Most fuel-efficient hybrids
Combined MPG, best-rated version of each nameplate. Electric cars are not here and not because they do worse: they have no MPG. Rating them on MPGe would put a three-figure number at the top of a table it does not belong in, so they are ranked on cost instead, where they can be compared with these fairly.

One row per nameplate, showing its best-rated version — a nameplate sold in six configurations would otherwise take six rows and push everything else off the page. Annual fuel is the EPA's own figure at 15,000 miles and its reference fuel prices; every model page recalculates it from your mileage and your prices. Where these come from.
